2-midazolidinone is an organic compound with the molecular formula C3H6N2O, characterized by its five-membered heterocycic ring containing two nitrogen atoms and a carbonyl group, which imparts a range of chemical and physical properties. 2-lmidazolidinone is used as a building block in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals, serving as an intermediate in thedevelopment of biologically active compounds and stabilizing agents. 2-lmidazolidinone has been shown to have afinity for serotonin and adrenergic receptors, and it is a metabolite of ethylenethiourea (ETU), adecomposition product of EBDc fungicides.
