Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), sometimes referred to as thermoplastic rubbers, are a class ofcopolymers or a physical mix of polymers (usually a plastic and a rubber) that consist of materials withboth thermoplastic and elastomeric properties.While mostelastomers are thermosets, thermopl astics are in contrast relatively easy to use inmanufacturing, for example, by injection molding.Because of its elastomeric component, TPEs are soft and flexible materials that can be repeatedly stretched to at least twice their original length at room temperature and return to the approximate length of the original shape upon stress release.
