Characteristics Of Titanium Alloy Fasteners 
(1) Small density.  The density of titanium alloy is significantly less than that of steel, so titanium alloy fasteners are lighter than steel fasteners.  

(2) higher than the strength.  Titanium alloy is a common metal material with a higher specific strength.  Using the advantages of high specific strength, titanium alloy can also be used to replace the lightweight aluminum alloy material. When the applied load is the same, the geometric size of titanium alloy parts is smaller, which can effectively save space. This concept of material utilization is of great significance to the aerospace field.  

(3) High melting point.  The melting point of titanium alloy is significantly higher than that of steel material, so the heat resistance of titanium alloy fasteners is better than that of steel fasteners. 

 (4) Small thermal expansion coefficient and elastic modulus.

 (5) No magnetic.  The magnetic permeability of titanium alloy is very small, almost negligible, so titanium alloy fasteners are non-magnetic, can effectively prevent the interference of magnetic field.  Austenitic stainless steel is also non-magnetic, but subsequent cold processing will increase its magnetism, while titanium alloy hot or cold processing does not change its magnetism, which makes titanium alloy can be used in avionics equipment. 

 (6) High ratio of buckling strength.  The critical strength standard for fasteners designed to withstand tensile loads is the yield strength, followed by the tensile strength because once the fastener has yielded deformation, it will lose its fastening effect.  Compared with iron and steel materials, the yield strength of titanium alloy is close to the tensile strength, and the flexure strength is higher, so the safety of titanium alloy fasteners is higher.  

(7) The electrode potential matched with the carbon fiber composite material.  In fasteners, the important reason for the huge amount of titanium alloy is that the potential of titanium alloy electrodes matches that of carbon fiber composite electrodes, which effectively prevents the occurrence of galvanic corrosion.  

(8) In addition, titanium alloy has excellent corrosion resistance, high creep resistance, and other advantages.
