Titanium Anode for metal recovery from etching solution

Other recommendations for your business
Titanium Anodes for etching solution recovery are a mature and efficient technology widely used in industries such as PCB (Printed Circuit Board). Due to their superior performance, titanium anodes have become a key equipment component in this field.

Application Background

During PCB manufacturing, the etching process generates a large amount of waste liquid containing high concentrations of copper. As etching progresses, the copper ion concentration in the etching solution continuously increases, and the etching solution loses its activity when it reaches 150 g/L. This waste liquid not only wastes resources but also causes serious environmental pollution if not properly treated.

Titanium anodes are mainly used in etching solution recovery to extract metallic copper through electrolysis. Depending on the etching solution system, the following three process routes are mainly adopted:

• Micro-etching solution treatment: Micro-etching solution (Cu₂SO₄ + H₂O₂) → Oxygen-degrading electrolytic cell (decomposition of H₂O₂) → Electrodeposition of copper

• Alkaline etching solution treatment: Alkaline etching solution → Extraction process → Copper sulfate + Sulfuric acid → Electrodeposition of copper

• Acidic etching solution treatment: Acidic etching solution → Ion-exchange membrane electrolysis (electrodeposition of copper) → Tail gas treatment (absorption of chlorine gas)

Titanium Anode Technology

1. Excellent Corrosion Resistance

In high-chlorine, high-acid etching solution environments, titanium anodes do not undergo matrix dissolution, resulting in a significantly longer service life than graphite and lead anodes, capable of stable operation exceeding 4000 hours.

2. High Current Efficiency and Energy Saving Effect

The noble metal oxide coating effectively reduces oxygen and chlorine evolution potentials, improves the current efficiency of copper recovery, and reduces energy consumption. 3. Low cell voltage, low energy consumption, and an oxygen evolution overpotential approximately 0.5V lower than that of lead alloy insoluble anodes.

4. Environmentally friendly and pollution-free.

Titanium anodes do not release harmful metal ions during electrolysis, avoiding secondary pollution and meeting green production requirements. The substrate is reusable, reducing waste generation.

5. Long service life and low maintenance costs.

Typically, they can be used continuously for 1.5-3 years, requiring less maintenance and significantly reducing equipment downtime and maintenance costs. Service life can reach 2-5 years, with a maximum of 5 years.
