Purslane (scientific name: Portulaca oleracea L.): It is an annual herb of Dianthus and Purslane family, and the whole plant is glabrous. The stems lie flat, spread on the ground, and the branches are pale green or dark red. The leaves are alternate, the leaves are flat, thick, dentate, dark green above, light green or reddish below; petiole thick and short. Flowers sessile, blooming at noon; bracts leafy; sepals green, helmet-shaped; petals yellow, obovate; stamens anthers yellow; ovary glabrous. Capsule ovoid; seeds small, obliquely spherical, dark brown, shiny. The flowering period is from May to August, and the fruiting period is from June to September.
