Plastic sprockets & gears offer a superior alternative to metal in applications demanding quiet operation, light weight, corrosion resistance, and zero lubrication. Made from POM (acetal), glass-filled PA66, or PEEK, they provide excellent tensile strength, impact resistance, and fatigue endurance—maintaining tooth geometry under continuous load. Their self-lubricating nature minimizes friction and wear against both metal and plastic chains. Precision injection molding ensures gear accuracy to ISO 1328 Class 8 or better, guaranteeing smooth, synchronized motion. Resistant to water, oils, mild chemicals, and cleaning agents, they never rust and operate from -40°C to +120°C (up to 250°C with PEEK). With 1/7–1/8 the density of steel, they reduce rotational inertia for faster motor response. Noise is reduced by 10–20 dB, creating quieter workspaces. Most grades are lubrication-free—ideal for food, pharma, and cleanrooms—and spark-free for hazardous environments. Failures typically involve plastic deformation rather than shattering, enhancing safety. When properly selected, plastic sprockets & gears deliver system-level efficiency and lower lifecycle costs.
