Definition and basic properties
Nickel foil is a thin sheet material made of metallic Nickel (Ni). Nickel is a silvery-white metal with good luster. Its density is 8.908g/cm³, and it has certain toughness and ductility, and is easy to process into various shapes.
From the perspective of electrical properties, nickel foil is a good conductor with high electrical conductivity, which can effectively transmit current in applications such as conductive connections of electronic devices. Production method
Rolling process: This is one of the most common methods for producing nickel foil. First, the nickel ingot is rolled into a thicker plate through a hot rolling process, and then the thickness of the plate is gradually reduced through a cold rolling process until the required foil thickness is reached. During the rolling process, parameters such as rolling force, rolling speed and rolling temperature need to be precisely controlled to ensure the thickness uniformity and quality of the nickel foil.
Electrolytic process: Nickel foil can also be produced by electrolysis. In the electrolytic cell, nickel salt solution is used as electrolyte, nickel plate is used as anode, and nickel foil is formed by depositing nickel atoms on the cathode. The electrolytic process can produce nickel foil with high purity and uniform thickness, but the process cost is relatively high and the requirements for production environment and equipment are relatively strict.
Application field
Electronic industry: Nickel foil is widely used in the electronics industry. It can be used as an electrode material for electronic components, such as in capacitors, batteries and other products. In lithium batteries, nickel foil can be used as a positive electrode current collector to collect and conduct the current generated by the positive electrode material of the battery.
