Echinacea (scientific name: Echinacea purpurea (Linn.) Moench) is a perennial herb of the genus Echinacea in the family Asteraceae. It is 50-150 cm tall. The whole plant has thick hairs and the stems are erect; the leaf margins are serrated. Basal leaves creeping or triangular, cauline leaves creeping-lanceolate, base of petiole slightly clinging to stem. Flower head, solitary or mostly connate at the top of the gland, flower large, up to 10 cm in diameter: the center of the flower is convex, spherical, tube-shaped flowers on the ball, orange-yellow; seeds light brown, hard outer skin. Flowering summer and autumn.
