Ferrous sulfate

Keywords
Ferrous sulfate, FeSO4·7H2O, green vitriol, concrete water retention agent, grouting concrete

Ferrous sulfate is an inorganic substance with the chemical formula FeSO4, which is white powder and odorless. Its crystalline hydrate is heptahydrate at room temperature, commonly known as "green vitriol", light green crystals, weathered in dry air, oxidized to brown basic iron sulfate on the surface in humid air, and tetrahydrate at 56.6 C , which becomes a monohydrate at 65 C. Ferrous sulfate is soluble in water and almost insoluble in ethanol. Its aqueous solution oxidizes slowly in the air when it is cold, and oxidizes quickly when it is hot. Adding alkali or exposed light can accelerate its oxidation. Relative density (d15) 1.897. irritating.

Usage on Concrete
Ferrous sulfate can significantly control the water separation rate of cement mortar.
The addition of ferrous sulfate and polyacrylamide significantly improved the water retention properties of cement grouting.

The effect of ferrous sulfate on concrete:
1. It can improve the rheological properties of concrete mixture;
2. It can adjust the setting time and hardening performance of concrete;
3. It can improve the durability of concrete;
4. It can reduce the water-soluble hexavalent chromium in concrete and reduce the allergic dermatitis caused by workers contacting concrete.
