Ruscus (scientific name: Ruscus aculeata L.) is the lily family ruscus shrub. Rhizome cross walk, thick. Stems much branched, dark green, 20-80 cm high. Cladodes oval, acuminate apex become 1-2 mm long needle, into a base attenuate stalked, entire. White flowers, flowers 1-2 cladodes born above the lower portion of the vein; bracts ca. 2 mm; perianth ca. 1.5-3 mm. Berry red. Flowering from January to April, the fruit from September to November.
