Tripeptide compound : formed by glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine linked by γ -amide bond, with the active group being the thiol group of cysteine (-SH).
Existence form : Under physiological conditions, it mainly exists in the reduced form (GSH) and is in dynamic equilibrium with the oxidized form (GSSG).
