302 stainless steel is a variant of 18% chromium and 8% nickel austenitic stainless steel, the most common and frequently used alloy in the stainless steel family. A slightly higher carbon version of 304, 302 is commonly available in strip and wire form. It is a tough, ductile grade with considerable corrosion resistance, is non-magnetic, and is not heat-hardenable. 302 is typically used in its annealed condition and is highly fabricable and formable.
