  Quick connect fittings (push fittings) are used in a wide variety of plumbing, heating, electrical and fire suppression systems. Quick connect works by inserting the tubing into a connection mechanism that deploys fastening teeth onto the tubing surface. When opposing force is applied to the union, the teeth are forced deeper into the tubing, preventing separation of the union. Quick connect fittings offer a significant time saving benefit over traditional technologies and require little skill for their usage.

1. Use filters ahead of quick-connects.

2. Use body and stem protectors or dust caps on uncoupled bodies and stems.

3. Align bodies and stems when coupling or uncoupling.

4. Couple and uncouple quick-connects at room temperature.

5. Couple and uncouple quick-connects during system cleaning operations.

6. Support hanging hoses or other equipment to prevent side load.

7. Relubricate stem seal O-rings periodically.
