Atractylodes macrocephala Koidz. (Atractylodes macrocephala Koidz.): Atractylodes is a perennial herbaceous plant, up to 60 cm high, with nodular rhizomes. Stems erect, all smooth and glabrous. The leaves are alternate, the leaves are pinnately lobed, the lateral lobes are oblanceolate, elliptic, or oblong, and the apical lobes are larger than the lateral lobes. All the leaves are thin, papery, green on both sides, glabrous, and the head is solitary. Branch tops, bracts green, needle-like and pinnatifid. Bracts broadly campanulate, apex purplish red. Achenes are cone-shaped and flower and bear in August-October
