Laminaria japonica, also known as Lunbu, Kumbu, and Chinese cabbage, is a large perennial algae. The sporophytes are large, brown, flat banded. It is divided into blades, shanks and anchors. The anchors are pseudo-root-shaped. The leaf is composed of epidermis, cortex and pith tissue, and there are sporangia in the lower part of the leaf. With a mucus cavity, it can secrete slippery substances. Tree-like branches of anchors for attaching rocks on the bottom of the sea, growing in low-temperature seas.
